Life has thrown us a lot of challenges lately. From the economic crisis to job losses, to the housing crisis, etc. Many people have become frozen in life because they are unsure what to do next. We have become distrustful of the future and what direction everything might be headed. And because of our fears, we are not trusting ourselves to make decisions. Thus, we have become frozen in life.

If this defines your life, if you are feeling stuck and insecure, unable to make decisions, feeling distrustful of everyone and everything, it might be time to take a step back and figure out what you could do to get yourself unstuck and take control of your life back.

People from all walks of life are using life coaches to assist them in moving their lives forward again. A life coach can serve many purposes and the biggest purpose is to be an objective, trustworthy, accountability partner in supporting you the direction you want your life to head.

How does Life Coaching Work?

Hiring the services of a life coach gives you access to scheduled appointments, email contact, phone contact, and possibly face-to-face contact. Each coach will have a somewhat different structure to their business that will be discussed in the initial contact. The length of time each session lasts, the cost of each session, term of contract, etc.

Each session will be focused on your identified goals and needs. You will be supported in developing new habits and skills that will assist you in being more effective and productive in steering through your life and life challenges. You will be empowered and held accountable for your results. This is a good thing. Most of us do not have people that hold us accountable for our results thus we do not accomplish as much as we are capable of accomplishing.

What areas will you improve?

A life coach will help you in many different arenas. Arenas that might include, health, physical environment, social skills, career goals, relationships, family, spiritual, emotional, building confidence, education, etc.

Many life coaches will work with lots of different areas of your life and some life coaches specialize in a specific niche; such as, business, weight loss, attorneys, doctors, etc. It is up to you to determine what kind of coach you need - either general or specialized. This will depend on what you want to accomplish while working with a life coach.

Can a life coach help improve my business?

Most definitely! This is generally a life coach that is specialized in business development but not always. In using a life coach in your business you can be helped to figure out how to market your business more effectively, help you to make those decisions that are either difficult or complicated, help you with business strategies, etc. Having a life coach as a partner in your business will allow you to grow your business bigger and faster.

Is goal setting part of the process?

Yes! Goal setting and defining a direction for your life is critical. This gives you and your coach a road map so that you can see where you are, how far you have come, and where you are headed. As you continue on your journey, you can make decisions to alter your goals and direction as you and your coach see fit.

Can anyone benefit from using a life coach?

No! Anyone "can" benefit from a using a life coach but only if you are ready to maximize your time and results when you hire a coach. If you are not ready to do the necessary work (including homework), then you might want to postpone using a coach. Or, possibly, this might be the PERFECT time in your life to have a coach. The pain of being stuck in life might be painful enough for you to see value and be willing to do the necessary work. If so, hire a life coach today and get your life moving forward.
