Quoted by the Ceri Roberts from Aol lifestyle online, "Last year Ulrika Jonsson shocked fans with her dramatic weight loss, but now she says that her battle with degenerative disc disease was the reason for her increasingly fragile frame.

Ulrika, 44, says that she has battled with the debilitating back condition for four years and this contributed to her weight loss, leaving her weak and depressed.

She says that she is now on the mend after learning to manage her condition through exercise, but she is still in pain.

Speaking to Lorraine on ITV this morning she said: "I am actually eating a lot more now and I feel better about myself, I feel a little bit more in control. I still have the problem, it will be ongoing, but I need to keep moving.

She added: "The pain moves in different places and moves around because it's been ongoing for about four years.

"So it's related to degenerative disc disease... so it's extremely painful. It's there twenty-four-seven.

"I was able to take control of it by going swimming and gaining a bit of strength psychologically from being mobile, that was a huge step."

Ulrika revealed her condition in January after months of speculation about her changing appearance.

She said that the condition had killed her appetite, left her depressed and had also put a strain on her marriage to her third husband, Brian Monet."
